ABOUT LAS GUERRERAS
Recipes from Guerrero, Mexico
Hand-Crafted in Oakland by True Maiz Warriors
La Guerrera’s Kitchen is a family-owned and operated restaurant located in Old Oakland’s Swan’s Market. As a passionate, women-led team, we proudly serve the flavors of our native Guerrero, Mexico, a region known for its rich culinary traditions and coastal bounty. Specializing in traditional tamales, pozole, barbacoa, and more, each dish is a reflection of our roots and the love we have for our culture.
Guerrero is a truly magical place—its breathtaking coastline, lush mountains, and vibrant food culture inspire everything we do. The heart of Guerrero’s cuisine lies in its ability to thrive on the bounty of the sea and land, using simple yet bold ingredients. Our story began in the mercados of Guerrero, where we started selling tamales in 2002. These humble beginnings soon spread to the Bay Area, where we built a loyal following. In 2019, our dream came true with the opening of La Guerrera’s Kitchen, our first brick-and-mortar location, allowing us to share our heritage with the community we love.
La Guerrera’s Kitchen was born from La Cocina, a place where food became a bridge to connect people, tell stories, and celebrate life’s precious moments. Our goal has always been to inspire connection, conversation, and unity, one plate at a time. Each meal is served with a piece of our heart, a gift of love and tradition passed down from generation to generation.
