Reheating Tamales Made Easy

To keep your tamales fresh, always store them in a tightly sealed bag, either refrigerated or frozen. For the best results when reheating, we recommend steaming on the stovetop to achieve perfectly moist and flavorful tamales.

Steaming/Stovetop

1. Prepare the Tamales:Remove the tamales from the bag and stand them upright in a steamer pot.
2. Add Water: Pour 2-3 inches of water into the pot, ensuring the water does not touch the tamales.
3. Cover the Pot: For better results, cover the pot with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, then place the lid on securely.
4. Cook: Heat on medium-low.

  • For thawed tamales: Cook for 10-15 minutes.

  • For frozen tamales: Cook for 20-30 minutes.

5. Check Temperature: Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

Microwave
1. Thaw the Tamales: Place the tamales in the refrigerator for a few hours to thaw before microwaving.

2. Prepare for Heating: Arrange no more than two tamales on a microwave-safe plate and cover the plate with a damp towel to keep them moist during heating.

3. Microwave: Be careful when removing the tamales from the microwave, as they will be very hot. Heat on high for 1 minute.
Check the tamales, and if they need more time, add an additional minute or until fully heated.
